Jamie Dusold's areas of interest include depression, grief, anxiety, early adulthood development/transitions, life and relationship coaching, work-life balance, problems in living, self-esteem/identity, caring for aging parents, and emotional reactions to chronic illness.

Jamie is an empathic therapist who places emphasis on developing a strong and trusting relationship with her clients, working collaboratively with them to create goals and develop clear steps in order to reach those goals. She views therapy as the opportunity to learn more about who we are and what we want out of life. Additionally, she is an advocate for incorporating general health and wellness into treatment.

Jamie primarily uses cognitive-behavioral and person-centered approaches in therapy. She works with clients to help them better identify their own thoughts and beliefs, and to understand how they may influence our emotions and behaviors, ultimately getting in the way of our goals. In session, Jamie works with her clients to practice techniques to help change these unconstructive thoughts and beliefs into more positive and functional ones. She then asks her clients to practice these techniques outside of session in order to use them in real life. Techniques used include relaxation and guided imagery training, assertiveness training, and mindfulness.

Jamie received her BA in psychology from Indiana University and her MA in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is currently completing her doctorate in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University. Her clinical experience includes individual therapy with adolescents, adults, and an older adult population; neuropsychological testing; and diagnostic assessment.
