Biography

If you are here, you may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or have no idea what you are feeling. Whether you have been to therapy before or considering trying it for the first time, Emily is committed to helping you identify and remove the barriers of eating disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, bipolar disorder, life transitions, relationship issues, and problematic sexual behaviors.

Emily will work with you to remove these barriers by establishing a safe, empathetic, and supportive environment. In addition, Emily will work to facilitate a strong therapeutic relationship, which she finds to be a catalyst of change. Through working together, she will help you reach your goals with the intention that you will heal, grow, and gain a better understanding of yourself and others.

Although Emily primarily practices through a psychodynamic foundation, she offers approaches that support healing from trauma through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and trauma-focused counseling, as well as creating healthier relationships through Attachment-Based Therapy, and helping you manage and break free from eating disorders through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Originally from Chicago, Emily received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication from the University of Illinois and obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling from Northwestern University. Emily also gained experience interning at Psychological Counseling Services, where she worked as an outpatient counselor and as an intensive outpatient counselor.
