Clinical Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Katrina Castro is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides both individual and couples therapy, as well as psychological testing. Dr. Castro has experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, adjustment problems, and relational problems. She works from an attachment-based model and believes that a warm, trusting, supportive relationship between therapist and client is the key to effective therapy. She has been trained in multiple therapeutic modalities and utilizes a variety of skills and interventions. Additionally, Dr. Castro values the importance of faith and spirituality, and she is happy to integrate Christian spirituality perspectives into therapy if that is requested.
Dr. Castro also provides psychological assessment for various concerns including adult Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disorders, general diagnostic clarification, etc. She firmly believes that psychological assessment is most helpful when the client and assessor work together to better understand the client and foster a re-conceptualization that stimulates growth and improved self-esteem. As such, Dr. Castro usually takes a Therapeutic Assessment approach with her clients.
Dr. Castro earned her doctorate in psychology from Biola University in Southern California. She completed her doctoral internship at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Western Michigan and her post-doctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente. Dr. Castro worked for Kaiser Permanente in Northern California before transitioning to private practice.
