Biography

Melanie earned her Masters in Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Hartford, in West Hartford, CT. While obtaining her Master’s degree, Melanie trained in Palatine, IL at a therapeutic day school for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression and/or bipolar disorders. Melanie helped clients develop crucial skills necessary to enhance emotional regulation and social communication goals in order to thrive in school, at home, and in their communities. Melanie successfully facilitated group and family therapy and recognizes these treatment modalities are a fabulous way to encourage individuals of all ages to speak up about their struggles and create a space to feel less alone. 

Melanie easily builds a therapeutic rapport with her clients and their families. She is open, empathetic, sincere, professional, and positive with her clients. Melanie’s professional interests include working with clients who are navigating life transitions and also helping clients build and maintain fulfilling interpersonal relationships. Melanie has previous experience working with children, adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, autism, and ADHD. Her clinical areas include working with children ages 5-18, adults 18+, family therapy (children, adolescents or adults), Autism Spectrum Disorder (Children/Adults) and disordered eating.

 Melanie’s warm and engaging style helps clients feel at ease with who they are. Melanie works collaboratively with her clients and aspires to help clients find their strengths and provide them with the tools to positively change their lives.
