What made you decide to be a therapist?

So I have a background in child welfare and as a health educator. I felt like when I was doing that work, the most rewarding pieces of that work was when I got to have one-on-one conversations with people. I enjoy being able to be a human in a space with other humans and being able to hold space for them and empower the conversation they want to have.

What are your specialties?

My specialties include doing trauma work, reproductive justice work, women’s issues, life transitions, working with children and adolescents, and I also specialize in anxiety and grief and loss.

What is your therapeutic stance?

My therapeutic stance is very trauma-informed, which for me, means that I am meeting somebody where they are. It’s very important to me not to push someone into going into a certain direction with their session or with their issues that they bring into therapy. So I am very client-focused and strengths-based.

What do you enjoy most about being a therapist?

What I enjoy most about being a therapist is about connecting with people and holding space for the conversation they want to have. The things I enjoy most also include being able to open someone up to the perspective of softening certain parts of themselves that feel challenging or heavy.

If you could be an animal, what animal would you be?

If I could be an animal, I would be a bird because then I could travel a lot more easily.

What do you do for self-care?

For self-care, I like to do cardio. I feel like getting my blood pumping is really therapeutic. I read and I write and I also like to watch movies.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies include cooking and baking, especially for people I love, being able to host dinners. I play recreational softball and I have been doing that for several years. I also like to organize and re-decorate my house.

Are you an early bird or night owl?

I would say that I’m definitely more of an early bird than a night owl. I like to be able to get up and get stuff done in the morning; not too early though, but early enough.

What is your favorite quote?

My favorite quote comes from a Jamila Woods song. The quote is, “I woke up this morning with my mind set on loving me.” I can’t remember the song right now, but it’s a Jamila Woods song.
