Shalayne had the pleasure of working in an in-patient and outpatient mental health setting that allowed her to obtain experience in crisis and relapse prevention for clients struggling with severe depression and anxiety symptoms. Shalayne’s approach to working with adolescents and adults suffering through difficult and severe symptoms of their diagnosis is by taking a direct, strengths-based and healthy confrontational approach to therapy. Shalayne has a remarkable ability to utilize a direct approach that demonstrates commitment, respect for each client’s current emotional state and understanding of mental health. This technique empowers clients who are struggling to push forward, to decrease their helpless thoughts and self-hatred and motivates them to continue in their treatment. Shalayne’s approach creates space for clients to find their “why” and identify ways to cope through their stressors.
Shalayne graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and from Aurora University with a Master of Social Work. Shalayne enjoys traveling the world, spending time with family and friends and also enjoying the city of Chicago’s food scene and summer sun.
