Taylor is a compassionate and dynamic therapist with nearly a decade of experience in the fields of behavioral health and education. She has worked with a diverse population, providing individual and group therapy to a wide range of clients- those struggling to cope with life transitions and self-image issues to those dealing with severe mental illness, substance abuse, and trauma.
She began her journey as a volunteer counselor at Headquarters Counseling Center in Lawrence, KS providing support to individuals in crisis. After she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) she headed west and earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Denver. Taylor developed strong diagnostic and assessment skills during her time as an intern on the adult inpatient behavioral health unit at Porter Hospital and later transitioned into the field of correctional mental health, working with criminal justice involved individuals while incarcerated or transitioning back into the community. With a strong passion for social justice and patient advocacy, she lead a multidisciplinary team as the behavioral health director at the Douglas County Jail prior to her joining the Symmetry Counseling team.
Taylor respects the complexity of the human experience and views her work as a privilege. It’s important to her that everyone have access to effective and ethical treatment. This belief lead to her career in education. She enjoys supervising and teaching therapists-to-be as an adjunct instructor for The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Taylor’s psychotherapy practice is integrative and tailored to each of her clients. She is trained in evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapies and artfully incorporates aspects from existential and Gestalt therapies. Taylor views the therapy experience as a journey; she aims to walk by your side as you navigate life’s difficulties and help guide you through unexplored frontiers so that you are able to lead the fulfilling and meaningful life you deserve.
