What made you decide to be a therapist?
I decided to become a therapist because, as a child growing up, I always wanted to be in the helping field. With both of my parents being physicians, I knew that was something I wanted to do. I was a teacher after I graduated college for about seven years and that’s when I really realized that I wanted to help children and help families and help individuals through daily life stressors what through whatever might be going on in their lives.
What are your specialties?
Some of my specialties include working with depression and anxiety with individuals who are adults, children, and even elderly. I also really enjoy working with the addiction population, and also utilizing the SMART recovery model to work with them through their substance abuse.
What is your therapeutic stance?
My therapeutic stance is a lot of CBT, person-centered, because I feel that you need to meet the individual to where they’re at and not push them too hard to get to what the needs are.
What do you enjoy most about being a therapist?
I enjoy being a therapist because I am such a people person and I love meeting people and hearing their stories, and also being able to help them through daily life stressors has been a huge joy for me working in this field.
If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
I feel like I had a really hard time with this question because I don’t know what animal I would actually be, but I really enjoy elephants. I felt like that’s something, for some reason, that I would want to be.
What do you do for self-care?
For self-care, I do a lot of relaxation, a lot of yoga, taking baths. I’m getting into photography, so working on my photography skills. Watching TV and movies.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies include playing sports, watching any football, soccer, basketball, anything that has to do with Atlanta sports. Once again, photography, and just being outdoors has been a huge hobby of mine.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I am definitely an early bird compared to a night owl. I enjoy waking up early, getting things done, and just going on with my day as early as possible.
What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is by Maya Angelou, and it says, “The greatest achievements all require time.” My second favorite quote is by Mahatma Gandhi, that says, “Live like you’re to die tomorrow, learn as if you’re to live forever.”
