She completed one year of her Masters in Social Work at the University of Connecticut before transferring to the University of Maryland in Baltimore where she received a master's degree in social work with a concentration in clinical behavioral health.

Shannon's passion has been empowering adult survivors of childhood trauma to heal themselves and their inner child. She has worked with survivors of emotional, physical, sexual, and political trauma. She uses a bottom-up approach starting with somatic experiencing (how we feel in our bodies) building up to cognitive restructuring (reframing maladaptive thoughts).

Shannon, most recently, was a trauma therapist for a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient program working with survivors of multiple complex traumas. She is familiar with working with persons with borderline personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder, bipolar disorder, PTSD, general anxiety, and adjustment disorders.
